TechnologyThe HSLS Department maintains a computer lab for the use of our students. This lab, located in MTB B-02, is equipped with computers, a network printer, and other items you may need to assist in your research and/or document preparation. Additionally, our labs and Hearing and Speech Center feature state-of-the-art technology. Financial ResourcesAlong with a variety of financial aid available through the Financial Aid Office at Gallaudet, the department offers: Student worker positions - work in the clinic office, academic office or assist faculty with research Teaching Assistant positions - teach undergraduate courses or communication therapy courses Grant funded tuition assistance and stipends - currently the department has 3 grants offering both tuition waivers and stipends: Pediatric Educational Audiology Emphasis (PEAE) - this program is designed to support the preparation of CCC-A certified Audiologists with a pediatric/educational audiology emphasis to work with culturally and linguistically diverse pediatric (0-21) deaf and hard of hearing populations. Acceptance to the program includes a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $8,000. For more information contact Dr Wendy Hanks. Pediatric Aural Rehabiliation Emphasis (PARE) - this program is designed to support the preparation of CCC-SLP certified Speech Language Pathologists with a Pediatric Aural Rehabilitation Emphasis (PARE) to work with culturally and linguistically diverse pediatric (0-21) deaf and hard of hearing populations. PhD Leadership (PhD) - this program is designed to prepare CCC-A certified Audiologists who aspire to become faculty in university clinical audiology programs.
